We went in June with massively overgrown shrubs on the walk, which made it a little challenging for our 8 year old because of her height. However this added to the fun and sense of adventure. A lovely walk, with beautiful scenery.
It was a very hot day when we did this walk. We started from Mousehole - which started on a steep hill. The costal path itself was very overgrown and on occasion you couldn’t see your feet. Whenever we met anyone coming the other way we had to squeeze by. It was like this most of the way - very little path to speak off. Lots of rock climbing involved. Stopped for a drink in the beautiful cove. The walk back across the fields was a lot easier and the app gave great instructions and once told us we had gone the wrong way. All that said about the costal path, we absolutely loved it and definitely earnt our beer in the Old Coastguard hotel in Mousehole which did a surprisingly good real ale. Met some nice friendly people on the way.
After walking the coastal path from Porthcurno to Mousehole last July and finding the experience unpleasant to say the least, we decided to do the circular walk from Mousehole to Lamorna Cove to see if things had improved!
We used the Iwalk Cornwall route, which took us across fields heading to Lamorna, which were easier than the coastal path. Once at Lamorna cove we decided to have a drink and use toilets at The Lamorna Wink (opening times were very limited). There is also a cafe at the cove. The views at Lamorna cove are amazing.
The walk back was along the coastal path, which was a little more challenging than across the fields, but much better than last year. We can only assume during lockdown that the paths were hardly used or looked after by anyone.
It was great to complete the walk. We would certainly do it again.
There is a bus that runs past the road leading to Lamorna Cove; so if you decided you didn't want to walk back, check the bus times as they were was only one bus an hour when we were there in July!
This was a great walk and we were so impressed with the iwalks Cornwall app which we used. It guided us round perfectly and we enjoyed all the information about the route.
This is a lovely walk along the rocks by the sea. We was lucky enough to be there on a boiling hot day with the sun beating down. It was nice to cool down in the little rock pool
We started the walk in glorious sunshine, the scenery was fabulous, however the ground underfoot wasn’t!
It then decided to throw it down, so being sensible we decided to turn back!
Next time we’re down here again we shall give it another go, as it is breathtaking!
