VERY IMPORTANT: If you do not request, in writing, a visitor’s pass at least 30 days prior to your visit you will be denied. My first request was denied as I only requested my visitor’s pass two weeks in advance. My second request was 32 days prior to my requested visit date and was approved. It is recommended to call a couple of days prior to visit to confirm. Phone number is on visitor’s request form. The pass is only good for the one date requested.
• You must enter through the North Gate on your approved date.
• Admission is free
• Ample free parking
• Museum is relatively small and you are free to move at your own pace.
• The really interesting part of the museum is outside. There are several planes you can view as well as view takeoffs and landings (if your timing is good) on the active AFB runway.
I spent 2 hours viewing the museum building and the planes outside. It was very interesting for a first time visitor. It is worth the effort required to obtain a visitor’s pass.
Not open!!!! Tripadvisor wrong information, not open on Sundays! Maybe it’s not open at all. Somebody needs to fix it. Bummer that Tripadvisor has the wrong information on their post not cool.
My husband served in SAC during the Cold War, this base was a SAC base, so a must see for us. My first time ever on a base. Before coming to see the Global Power Museum, You must fill out the forms and following the procedure. The museum folks were helpful over the phone and sent me the forms and the email address to return same. They were also very helpful about the process from beginning to end. I called the number given a week of 2 to follow up on the forms and mine was done, and they were doing my husbands. This stop is the Military Police and they asked me to call back a day before to check on the passes, which I did. When we arrived the guard at the gate had mine, but not my husbands, easy fix as they did a background check on the spot. Patience and these women and men to serve and protect us. Anyways the museum is quite something. There is a brief movie and different rooms tracing the history of B52 and SAC. Outside there are super cool planes, bombers and such. We were there at least 3 hours and enjoyed every minute. Being hands on with the planes was awesome and across the road you can see the bombers being worked on. What an opportunity! I do wish there was a gift shop on site, but not one since COVID, hopefully in the future. Thanks to all for a fabulous visit! And thank you for your service to our country.
