Sontsen Monastery is a very gorgeous and magnificent monastery. It is one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Yunnan. It is the Yellow Religion center and one of the famous monastery in Kham district. It is also known as Little Potala Palace based on its appearance. It is a collection of Tibetan arts and crafts which is built in 1679 and completed in 1681. The Fifth Dalai Lama has provided the name “ Garden Songtsenlin “.
Starting from the front gate, the walls of entrance is decorated by the colourful paintings of Door Guard Gods. After climbing around 140 stairs my eyes were caught by the beautiful view of Lhamo Lhatso displayed at foot of the monastery.
There are Zongkapa(Founder of the yellow Religion), seventh Dalai Lama and many other Buddha’s statues. The walls of the halls are decorated with painted images of protectors and Buddha’s biography.
We lighted butter lamp and burnt the red paper written the names of deceased ones and alive ones in white paper which is a way of praying for the concerned.
Ps- Never leave the place before having a walk around the Lhamo Lhatso. You can enjoy breathtaking views of the monastery from different angles. So don’t miss the awesome scenario.
最好没有去之前了解一下,只要你进一步了解你会发现这里有着古老的传说。这样进去拜访的时候才有意思。 也不用傻乎乎的什么都不懂。
