Halloween Horror Nights的点评
点评：Don’t usually do reviews but there is so little info I found on the HHN for Singapore. I think this is meant to be pitched more at locals and if horror fans find their way, well I guess that’s fine. Let me preface this also by saying we usually go to HHN Orlando and have done so for YEARS.
We wanted tickets to the RIP tour. They weren’t available. We got dated admission to HHN, Express Pass Plus and Viper Lounge admission. We also spent the day at the park that day.
As we were leaving there was a stay and scream location. Sorry. What? These are usually pretty well known at Orlando. If we had know we would have gone back to the room early. Changed out athleisure wear and come in. Not advertised well. Nothing in the ticketing or information as an option. So. There is a stay and scream. We stayed. Was it worth it. Yes and no. You wait for everyone to be cleared out the park near Mel’s diner. Do people leave? Nah. Quite a lot of people removed by security nearly 45mins after closure. No cares given by the stragglers. Take a few more insta pics on the way out.
You get access to Mel’s dinner and fast food. Air con was the best bit. Now. In Orlando when the houses open at 6.30pm the stay and screamers get to go through. NO SIR. You have to sit and wait till 7.15pm whilst yellow banded frequent pass people go through. We actually were let through one house accidentally then had to stand at another for 30min until EXACTLY 7.15pm. This was even after escalating to a manager. Rules are rules in Singapore. Can I also say the wait times were 5 mins on the houses, barely any people going through. And the number of stay and screamers, maybe 40 so no high volumes like Orlando. So. Almost no benefit to stay and scream peeps.
Having said that we managed to do all 4 houses by 8pm. But we know to hook up to the back houses ASAP when the gates do open.
The Houses. Fantastic. There are only 4 but slightly more creative than some of the Orlando ones and slightly longer. Guess due to small number more time was spent on effects.
Cursed Scrolls had 3D glasses and effects. Great scares. Moving floor. Swimming in a swamp effect. So good.
Sweet Home based on the Netflix Series. Haven’t seen it, didn’t matter. Best scares of all the houses. Timing was perfect both times through.
The Killings. Good solid house. Some good scares and theming.
Under the Castle by Team Wang. Favourite local child clearly as this was the most merchandised and hyped in the Universal Store. To be honest it was good but I missed most of the scares both times. Do I want a $85 Magnet to commemorate the house. No. Did I was a HHN 12 General magnet, yes but none to be had.
Did we need the Express Pass Plus. No. Was it nice to use to go through the houses again. Yes. Was it nice to jump the queue on the night rides , yes. Not essential on our night. No clue how busy it usually is. 60min was max wait on a house. But would change rapidly to less.
‘Scare Zones’. There were 3. One on Main Street was a dance scare zone. No scares. Dancing baddies. They were fun. The Lost Kampung and Vampire Alley. Essentially an outdoor house you are funnelled through. One way only. Not scary, more theatrical. Vampire alley had a meat freezer section that was fun and the scariest. Kampumg Def scared the local clientele. A scare actor dressed as the girl from the ring just STANDING there in the dark doing nothing incited hysterics and falling over from the group in front of us.
Dark Dreams show was good. Theatrical. Viper Lounge was a food and bar experience with MANY scare actors to take pics with. But. Again, in athleisure wear and gross from a day at the park in 100% humidity. The drink and food provided was nice but nothing special. The actors were interactive and friendly. Most of the locals dressed to the nines and taking pics everywhere. Fab dressed. It almost felt like one big photo op for them, oh, and a few horror houses. Oculars Rave was a DJ dance zone. Sponsored by Tiger Soju. How did we know? You could wind prizes by buying Tiger Soju and posting to Insta. Look. I wanted a prize. So I did participate and I like Soju and beer. But this was obviously a massive sponsor and you could tell. Squishy eyeball toy and motorised fan were acquired. Which reminds me. Bring a fan! No seriously. Mini motorised fan. Do it. Hotter than hell for non acclimatised. Sweat factor was a 10.
Now getting home. We stayed on Sentosa. Caught the monorail in. It’s a special event, did they extend the monorail times. Nope. Closed at midnight. Event finished at 1.30am. When we asked for help how to walk back. The Guest Service man helpfully pointed out we missed the monorail and the shuttle wasn’t running. Yes Sir, we know. Just after directions as there is construction everywhere. He then asked if the had been at the HHN. Like he wouldn’t help if we weren’t? It was 12.30am. Nothing else was open. Yes. We were at HHN. In athleisure wear. He helpfully said we would have to walk. No directions. So by this time tempers were a little frayed. He eventually found a colleague that could tell us where to walk (right along the monorail line essentially). So keep this in mind. Poor transport organisation!
Would I do the event again. No. I would head back to Orlando where they embrace the scare and embrace the tourists.
