点评：The Day of the Dead tour was, without a doubt, the worst part of our Mexico trip. It was poorly managed, profit-driven, and demonstrated little regard for participant safety. Key issues included:
1. Severe Delays: After a 45-minute wait for late arrivals and a two-hour delay from a broken bus, the tour, originally set to end at 3 am, dragged on until 6:20 am, causing multiple participants to miss their buses back to Mexico City.
2. Poorly planned Itinerary and sudden changes: We were initially assured we’d visit all six planned stops in first half of the tour until we were suddenly informed we’d only cover four. Skipped stops were the most anticipated ones on the itinerary, and this was def avoidable with better planning and puctuality
3. Safety Hazards: The bus doors and luggage compartments opened/closed, injuring two passengers. One passenger was left bleeding from the mouth and had to pay for medication out of pocket, as no first aid was provided.
4. Profit-driven: We wasted excessive time at the first two, relatively uninteresting stops, with over an hour spent at one location where we were encouraged to pay extra to decorate horses. At a local house visit, we found over 15 other pre-decorated horses already arranged, making the entire experience feel like part of a profit-driven operation. Meanwhile, we had only 15 minutes at Tzumurutaro Cemetery, the highlight of the tour, and completely missed two key sites, Cucuchucho and Tzintzuntzan.
In summary, though our interpreter tried, the tour was chaotic, exploitative, and careless with both our time and safety. We left feeling extremely disappointed and misled, wishing we had chosen a different experience.
