Gertrude Hawk Chocolates的点评
点评：I always like to try local products when I travel (candy, bakeries, farm markets, etc) so I found Gertrude Hawk when researching local Scranton area attractions/food. I chose to visit the location next to the factory as I read they have discounted "factory outlet" items. I ended up passing the discounted items as none were anything I really wanted. Think bags of one particular type of chocolate such as all raspberry jelly, or all milk chocolate caramel). I wanted to try the peanut butter smidgens but they were fairly expensive at $16/box. There were other pre-boxed treats for around $9 to $16 per box. I opted to skip those. I did buy a chocolate covered rice Krispy treat which was very good, a milk chocolate bar, and a few assorted chocolates from the case. The woman at the counter wasn't the friendliest but at the end of the day she did her job and boxed my chocolates and rang me out. There were quite a few people coming in and out. May have tried more of their products if the prices weren't quite so high.
Incidentally I later that day stopped at the Viewmont Mall which also has a Gertrude Hawk store. I was killing some time waiting to check into my hotel, so I wandered in to see if anything was different at this location. I found some different items there that the Throop location didn't have such as a dark chocolate peppermint crunch bar... which was delicious!
