点评：We visited Shona Sculpture Gallery with little expectations 'to see some local art', only to find ourselves in an art paradise.
On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by David, one of the gallery representatives and an artist (and gardener) himself. The majority of sculptures are exhibited outside in an absolutely beautiful garden. David has deep knowledge about the traditions, techniques and artists of Shona sculptural art; he was a wonderful guide, providing an outdoor art class that I shall never forget. For each sculpture, he shared just enough background information to help us understand how that single piece fits within the broader Shona tradition, whilst allowing us to form our own interpretations and appreciation of each work.
The gallery building houses additional smaller sculptures, and pieces are available across different price ranges. I'd highly recommend making a trip to this gallery—or stopping by en route to the airport—but do ensure you allow sufficient time to experience this remarkable gallery to the fullest.
