Teignmouth - Shaldon Ferry的点评
点评： What a superb crossing we had today from Shaldon to Teignmouth; it was brilliant!
The ferry comes right up onto the beach at Shaldon and it is a wonderful way to cross the water...saving a very long walk!
Depending on the tide, depends on how much beach you need to walk over to access the boat gang way. The crew are really attentive and helpful, however I would recommend that if you are doddery on your legs that perhaps this crossing isn't for you.
At Shaldon, you wait for the ferry on the beach - there's a large sandwich board noting the stop. If it's raining, there is a covered shelter above the beach.
When we crossed, the tide was on the turn so there wasn't much beach to walk on. But I could imagine that you could have quite a sandy walk to get the ferry when the tide is out.
Once you are on the boat you pay a cash fare. Today we paid £2.50 each which is absolutely worth it for the historical sailing alone in my opinion.
We docked on the RNLI slipway at Teignmouth and were helped down the gang way by the very attentive crew.
All in all a fantastic experience!
