The Players Theatre (aka Thame Theatre)的点评
点评：Went to see the panto with my kids and really enjoyed it again as good as if not better than 2024. Valerin the vicious was superb as was the Morgan character. My kids loved them. Less so for us was Valerin's mum. I also went to a few performances over the last 5 years or so and think the acting in the main is really good for an amateur group and is slowly improving over the years. 12th night was very promising. Sandcastles was a hoot the actor who played William Patterson was great as were Stan and Doug. Found the Mrs. Penfold character less so. Calendar girls was amazing the stand out being the lady who played Chris. Found the characters Marie (very shouty actress) and Ruth (still learning and it was clear) The set of The People in the autumn was astounding - was really impressed with this but the Stacpool sister duo were very stiff and stilted actors I thought and lines appeared to be delayed .... maybe a bad night not sure. One thing you do notice is that there are always the same old faces on the stage at Thame compared to other community theatres in Oxford city and across Buckinghamshire for example.
not sure if they struggle to get actors/ directors (no idea ) but feel like it could do with getting some fresh acting/ directing blood in.. That said its a gem of a place, lovely support staff and very cosy and loving the increase in the music acts.. which have been fab too. Advice to management:
Lovely premises and staff on bar/ door etc..
Get new and strong actors/ directors in - this place is a marvel waiting to happen and for a community theatre is a joy to visit.. maybe cast your net wider for talent.
Advertise more - lots of people have no idea its there or what is available to see
