Beautiful surroundings but room for improvement

点评：On a number of previous occasions we have visited the winery section and the bakery/ bistro both of which we have thoroughly enjoyed .On this occasion we booked in to stay at the hotel itself which is not an easy thing to do as most of the beginning of the year is booked up with weddings. In the event we got in for two nights. The surrounding views are stunning. Our room was excellent save in respect of the shower which malfunctioned and which could not be repaired. Specifically the water temperature could not be controlled. Further the shower enclosure itself was in poor condition. .This was disappointing given the price charged for the room. We alerted the hotel to the problem and they endeavoured to sort it albeit unsuccessfully. We suspected this was a long standing issue..
The Savoye restaurant had a friendly enough staff but the breakfast menu was extremely limited which was surprising given me that the bakery /bistro on the same site offered a more comprehensive breakfast. The supper menu was ordinary.
On checking out we were not asked whether we enjoyed our stay .Had we been asked we would have stated what we have said above. Because the hotel is situated in utterly beautiful surroundings it has tremendous potential but the management needs to step up to the mark to raise the overall standard.
