点评:Bit of a hilarious trip - we navigated to the postcode provided, and we’re lucky to park at the lower end of Burnt House Lane. So off we set on foot, expecting to find some sin boards welcoming us to Alverstone Mead. Unfortunately, having reached a crossroads with footpaths to the left and right, we decided to strike off to the right and downhill…
From there we ended up in what seemed to be a farmyard with a public foot path across it, which led us to some muddy ponds, and eventually back to a sort of boardwalk with no signs either. Following that through thick and thin, we came to the FoE reserve sign, and from there to a more substantial path round a big private property and to the entrance to Alverstone Mead - an hour after we started.
So there we were at the start of the party to the hide, but still nowhere any leaflet or diagram of where the vexatious tracks might go. So we looked in the hide and then walked up the hill, and lo and behold, there was the far end of Burnt House Lane.
One day we’ll come back and explore properly!
