Deep Bay Beach的点评
点评：ANTIGUA, DEEP BAY, Royalton Hotel Resort....It's A Must for Families & Adults....White Sands (no shoes really needed), Clear Blue Water, Only Waves in the Bay when Jet Skis visit for business, they have a place halfway down the beach & Catamarans drop Off & Pickup day trippers even further down the beach - Not A Problem!
Deep Bay is absolutely Brilliant for Young & Old who want to Swim Safely or just Dip & Soak in the Clear Blue Waters - PERFECT!...Take a banana or bread with you to the beach and a variety of fish (young swordfish with colors of blue, green and gold) just swim around you. You can even spot the occasional small stingray in the shallow clear water. Snorkel safely and you might see a larger stingray in the cordoned off swim area. Take a Kayak or the 3 Wheeler (Tractor looking) new type of Pedilo) beware, I went out in the Bay with someone much younger, 20 year old and he said further out from shore that this 'pedilo' could do with an engine -What! - I ended up peddling this Blue Tractor Contraption BACKWARDS to shore, as it was the easiest way for Retired Me! We managed to see a Green Turtle for 10 seconds and I caught a glimpse of the Head of a Leatherback Turtle, only momentarily.
BEACH: You have mattresses for your sunbeds and an abundance of Towels which you can change often. There's a Beach Bar and an Italian Restaurant down at the Beachfront. Because we were in the wet season (mid-August to mid-October) the Italian Restaurant is used for Caribbean Food Nights as well. Toilets are near the Pool, the Italian Restaurant and even at the Children's Small Water Theme Park area which is situated yards before the main beach area. Your walk down from your accommodation block to the beach takes you only minutes. As you walk down the views to your left and front are to behold. All the concrete structures are to your left hand side and to your right is the Beautiful Coastal Landscape Scenery which includes Fort Barrington which sits 130 feet above sea level on what used to be called Goat Hill. WOW FACTOR!
Fort Barrington (1792 named after Admiral Barrington) you just walk (600 meters approx) along the beach to the end and turn right at the Palm Trees just after the small Fresh Lobster Restaurant (more like a Wooden Structure, has a couple of wooden tables & seats for diners) and in less than 100 meters you will come across a loose shale footpath that will take you to the Top of Fort Barrington, the only Fort on the island that provided a defence for Sea & Land attacks and covers the Entrance to St john's the Capital. The Views Are Fantastic! You get to see the whole of Deep Bay from above, The Sea around the Fort and the Entrance to St John's Capital and Docking area. This is where the Ocean Cruise Liners & Japanese Car Cargo Ship enter and we were fortunate to see both from our 5th Floor Seaview Balcony wnen we stayed between 7th Sept - 16th Sept 2025.
Fresh Lobster Restaurant is Only Opened between 11am - 15.30pm. You get to pick your own fresh lobster from the cage on the beach. Price US$40-50 depending on size. Freshly cooked to perfection. Swim while you Wait. You won't be disappointed.
Deep Bay has a Shipwreck at its entrance to the Bay marked by a White Buoy. You can Kayak safely to it, touch the top of the Steamship Mast and see the whole shipwreck, still in one piece below the surface. Better still. The Beach Activity Team on the Beach can take you out in a motor dinghy for you to snorkel at the sunken shipwreck for US$20 per person.
British Steamship, 3 Masts, commissioned 1874, set sail from Tobago, a cargo of Barrels of Pitch bound for CHILE, to repair the countries roads, 4th June 1905 and sank 9th June 1905. One report states friction under one of the ships mast started a fire close to the engine room, which blew a hole in its side. The ship was pointed towards the shore and all the crew (swam I believe) survived. Intersting, WHY? was the SS ANDES heading 5 days North, when Tobago is so close tp the Eastern Side of South America. The PANAMA CANAL Construction was started in 1903 and Only Completed in 1914. So WHY? sail North and not Directly SOUTH?
Whilst staying at the Royalton Hotel we found the Staff very cooperative and helpful. I just don't understand reading other holiday makers bad reviews about them. This is my 3rd Trip to Antigua, We LOVE what the Island has to offer ands we'll be back again. it was also our 14th trip to the Caribbean since 2006 -2025. Next Year we've already booked the Royalton Hotel, Granada, Apr - May'26. You will never satisfy punters 100% but here at the Royalton Hotel they do try to achieve the highest standards for All. If something isn't to your liking, Just Ask and I'm sure The staff will do their Utmost to rectify and meet your requirements.
Victor (A Real Gent) Property Manager for Royalton Hotels in the West Indies, Jamaica, St Lucia etc was a person great to talk with and listener of any suggestions one had for improvements.
There's a very nice separate Coffee Building just past the Hotel Main Bar area en route to the Sports Bar & Main Dining Restaurant. We suggested to Victor that the Beach Front lacked a Coffee, Hot Drinks Station. Only the small Diamond Beach Bar Area provided Coffee etc. Well we also like the Odd Hot Coffee instead of Cold Drinks availability at the Beach Front - So, Victor has gone ahead and put in a proposal to their Financial Dept etc for such to be implemented.
The 10-12 FANS stretching from the Main Reception Area, past the Main Hotel Bar / Stage Area right to the Coffee Shop were not working. Theses Victor said, will be replaced. They need to be sorted, as it was unbearable hot most evenings. Hopefully, the FANS will be operational Very Soon if not Already for the next Visitors to this luvely destination.
We booked during the wet season. Booked early, got a real bargain price & 2 days out of 10 days heavy Rain + Lightning & Thunderstorm. Lots of us sat under our Parasols, towels wrapped around us admiring the spectacular Lightning & Heavy Downpour for a couple of hours. Once the rain stopped, we all changed our towels for fresh ones. Not A Problem. Well, it is their wet season and the Hurricane Season for the Caribbean. Once its Rained its Hot Sunshine Again. Not A Problem. PLEASE Do Refrain Going Into The Sea When Its A Lightning Storm, for Your Safety
