Fishbourne Roman Palace & Gardens的点评
点评：It must be nearly 20 years since I last went to Fishbourne and I had forgotten how big the site is. The preserved Roman mosaics are in a covered area like a large sports hall, but there are models and illustrations to show how big the original palace used to be. Part of it is now a garden and part of it was long ago built over with the surrounding houses. There is a display gallery by the entrance which has background information about the Romans in Chichester and about Fishbourne specifically. Along the wall of the "sports hall" there are other display boards with information about the excavations in the 1960s when the site was discovered. I found these fascinating, especially because most of the work was done by volunteers and amateurs. I don't think the displays have really changed since the palace opened to the public in the late 60s, but if the information is still relevant, then I think that is fine and there's no need for high-tech interactivity. Some of the outdoor boards could perhaps so with being replaced though - they are very weathered and difficult to read. I spent about two and a half hours here.
