Worth a visit, but plan your time carefully to make the most of it.
RSPB Rathlin West Light Seabird Centre的点评
点评：My wife is a keen birdwatcher and this was the main reason for our trip to Rathlin.
You need to plan your visit carefully so that you can see the Puffins.
As a number of reviews have stated, the bus service can be a bit 'hit and miss'.
There are 2 bus drivers, who do not seem to communicate very well.
They present the bus journey as a 'tour', when it is really only a bus ride and they only give you an hour to see the centre, which is a disappointing. They do not allow anyone to stand, so if the bus is full, you will have to wait for the next one. They also only take cash, and do not issue a ticket.
As we were keen on spending more than 1 hour here, we made a 2nd trip the following morning and stayed a bit longer. Thankfully the bus driver allowed us back for the return journey.
Regarding the Seabird centre, the staff are friendly and helpful, they have binoculars you can borrow and have also set up telescopies appropriately.
It is very windy along the walk down, the stairs are steep, so watch your step, and hold onto your hat.
I would advise having a good camera with a powerful lens, as the birds are very far away.
Rathlin is labelled as a 'place to see Puffins', however the numbers were far fewer than expected. There also are a host of other seabirds nesting on the cliffs.
The lighthouse is part of the centre and it has a unique history which is very interesting.
Overall we stayed for about 3 hours in total, and it was certainly the highlight of the trip.
