点评:The hike is relatively flat (400ft in just over 2miles) enjoy the desert plants along the way, the “chimneys” are volcanic remnants you can see from the trailhead - approaching the chimneys there are petroglyphs to be seen on the left chimneys, as well as “kitchen” areas where slash marks are made into the walls where tools were being sharpened , and several conical holes in some rocks where the indigenous tribe(s) ground corn from about 900-1000 yrs ago from park info. (The river is within sight to the distant south.
NO it’s NOT one of the most spectacular views available in the park BUT the hike is EASY, and you can take family /kids & friends out and just walk up to see 1st hand a location where a previous civilization existed / survived hundreds of years ago..
If you take a lunch /water break and stay quiet and still a while, there are jackrabbits - foxes, and some interesting desert reptiles that will start moving when you settle down..
(It’s also absolutely silent there on low wind days)
It’s a magnificent & easy spot to reach, you just need to appreciate what is there and enjoy ❣️
