Don’t skip whale watching tours on your visit to the NW USA!

点评：Our four hour whale watching trip out of Anacortes WA did not disappoint, even though we sailed in fog for at least 1.5 hours. We left Anacortes promptly and we were advised that we needed to pass through a fog bank. The approach to the San Juan from Anacortes is quite beautiful and we could still see well enough to enjoy the views. The boats up there are in contact with one another, so we sailed towards the last sighting of a pair of killer whales, it was thrilling. We observe them for 30 minutes or so and then heard there was a sighting of a humpback a short distance away so we set out for that site and again we’re thrilled at seeing the humpback. during our return to Anacortes, we again encountered fog.
The only reason I marked a four star instead of five is that we spent two hours to get to Anacortes coming from Seattle and we found there were many opportunities we passed up in Victoria and Port Angeles that would’ve been easier access and shorter boat rides. It was our mistake not to include whale watching in our itinerary.
I also suggest checking Groupon as I think we saved ourselves around $100 between the two of us.
Both our boat Captain Kirk and marine biologist, Brittany were extremely knowledgeable and were determined to make us all the whale lovers by the end of the trip! Now I follow whale sightings on a Facebook page out of the northwest
