Perfect day exploring the dunes of Sandwich Harbor

点评：This was a completely perfect day among the sand dunes of Sandwich Harbor. Highly recommend!
JP is a super knowledgeable, experienced, and friendly guide, we really enjoyed our time and conversations with him. He was also responsive and flexible - we had a last minute issue with our rented vehicle, and JP was kind enough to come pick us up in Swakopmund (rather than us driving to Walvis Bay to meet him), which allowed our car to get fixed while we were out with him for the day. We also expressed a preference for more time in the dunes and less time with the seal colony and he was happy to modify the itinerary.
The coastal desert landscape is surreal, driving up and down the steep sand dunes is a blast. We saw tons of local wildife (flamingoes, springbok, jackals, seals, sand geckos) and JP had a lot of information about the local flora and fauna to share with us.
The provided lunch was amazing; we were impressed and grateful for the accommodation of my food allergy. Plenty of local beverages (cider, beer, wine) were included as well!
It was definitely worth hiring a professional for this adventure! I wouldn't recommend trying to do Sandwich Harbor on your own - there's no cell service out in the dunes and it would be extremely easy to get stuck and/or mistime the tides. We considered a few different operators in Walvis Bay/Swakopmund, and Red Dune Safaris seemed like the best choice, and I can definitely say we made the right choice from our experience.
