点评:I went into this course slightly sceptical, wondering whether I would actually learn to bake proper bread or just end up with something suitable as a doorstop. I’m very glad to say it was definitely the former.
The day was thoroughly well structured, and the timing was spot on. To my surprise, we didn’t just learn one type of bread but three, which made the whole experience even more worthwhile. Rachel, the tutor, made sourdough feel far less intimidating than I had imagined. She even followed up with an email afterwards to remind me how to work out the timing for getting the starter right, which I really appreciated.
The group was great fun, and there was plenty of laughter throughout the day, which made the whole experience very relaxed and enjoyable.
A special mention has to go to the “second breakfast” (which I was not expecting at all). Rachel had prepared a fresh loaf for us to try. I should just have just one piece, but I must admit I was rather rude and helped myself to three. It was simply too good to resist.
Thank you for such a lovely day in Abergavenny. I learned a lot from the course, especially about handling the starter and improving my baking skills. My family and I especially liked the ciabatta.
I am now in the process of buying a baking stone and will try baking again soon. It was a very enjoyable experience, and I am already looking into planning my next course day.
