点评:The building is incredible but be aware that a lot has changed from the original configuration so while the tour is good and definitely worth it you are somewhat limited in terms of it being a 'glimpse into the past'. We expected to 'see more' and 'hear less' and stupidly booked on a Finnish language tour but the guide actually has a lot to say to contextualise the tour - we would have been better rescheduling our day for an English language tour.
We also stayed over two nights in the Mäntylä building. The pictures are misleading. It's not as stylish as it looks on the website. It's very basic and not particularly comfortable. There is a reason they don't show you pictures of the bathroom - it has a 1960s care home vibe and a drains smell to go with it. It's also quite close to the road so you are not going to be sleeping in the middle of pristine forest as it looks from the pictures. And the curtains are as thin as tissue paper so if you are there in the summer take a sleeping mask or prepare to be woken up by daylight at 4am. Overall we felt the accommodation was expensive for what was pretty much hostel quality.
