点评:Unveiled in 2011, this six-foot bronze statue along the southern end of High Street, is dedicated to Irish Guardsman past and present. The sacrifices during the Iraq War prompted the veterans to push for this monument. It stands about 15 feet above the road and is easy to view. The base is made from Afghanistan stone.
The statue is a good spot to view the parade which goes down and around the Royal Guardsmen barracks.
If you continue down south along Park Street you will come to an impressive Great Park. The “Long Walk” will take you 3 miles to a statue of King George III. Queen Anne had a road way developed for her coaches back in 1710. The walk is a total of about 6 miles. You may even get to see the famous Red Deer herd.
We thought staying in Windsor for 3 nights was one of our highlights of our 2025 journey. On the northern end is Eton College with a street lined with cafes and shops.
