Another beautiful medieval village
Village Médiéval的点评
点评：This was the sixth of "The most beautiful villages of France" that we have visited. The almost triangular village is located on a bend in the Serien River and is close to the Burgundy Canal. Mostly surrounded by the river the village lies below a ruined chateau that overlooks the village. It still has ramparts surrounding the town with 16 towers, old town gates and many buildings, some half-timbered, dating from the 16th century. There are placards on the historic houses. We tried the church but it wasn't open for visitors but was often open for concerts. While we walked around the town walls we didn't walk to the ruined chateau or the lookout points over the town. I'll put down our dereliction to the heat waves we were experiencing.
Visiting the town was free. We drove through town (following the signs) and parked in the free car park near the Museum of Naïve and Popular Art which we visited before we left.
