点评:I visited the Prince Henry Hospital Museum on 7 September. 2025.. The museum is in what was once a free-standing hospital ward in what was once Prince Henry Hospital aka "The Coast Hospital" at Little Bay.
Only open on Sundays from 10am - 3pm (though I think they open at other times for group tours) the museum covers the history of the site, going back to the 1800s when the 'hospital' was a collection of tents along the beach housing people suffering contagious diseases such as leporasy, and the nursing staff who cared for them.
It has displays of nursing uniforms and medical equipment used through the ages including an iron lung that kept many suffering from polio alive, and medical machinery that was scratch-built to suit a purpose. Plenty of other medical equipment is also on display, to interest younger and older visitors alike.
Entry to the museum is only $5. I spent about an hour there browsing the exhibitions.
There's plenty of free street parking nearby. There are several bus routes that either terminate or stop at Little Bay ie the 390X from Bondi, or the 392 from Redfern.
The site features a small group of shops including a supermarket and a couple of very good coffee shops just across the road from the museum. There's also great ocean views and open park areas to explore, so you could easily have a great day out, especially on a bright sunny day.
