点评:we booked 3 rooms here as we had played their others previously (as we are enthusiasts), and we had a fab day! we came to do lost in space first and were hosted by tommy & millie, which really the mood for the day, as they were such a laugh and great hosts. as enthusiasts, we've always said that game masters can either make or break your experience, and we were in great hands. they were a lovely pair and we had a good laugh through the briefing. the game itself was my least favourite of the day, but that was because we played others that just blew me away, but we'll get into that in a moment. lost in space is a container game which i'm not really a huge fan of, as i find them to be less immersive as it is a smaller space. however, it was our first room of the day, and it certainly helped us to wake our brains up.
we then played raider of the lost tomb, which took them like 4 years to build! we were hosted by rosie who was an absolute sweetheart. the set absolutely blew me away, it was absolutely stunning, and you can tell that so much love and passion went into the set design. i also really enjoyed the very last puzzle despite slightly being spoiled about it, but i don't want to explain and spoil it for anyone else. we were getting quite stressed in this room as it is absolutely massive with so much to do, and we're on an escaping streak of 2 years, so i didn't want this to be the room that we finally didn't escape from. the puzzles were tough, and we just about escaped which i'm really pleased about. this room was my second favourite of the day, just about, as it comes very close to my favourite.
after this, we took a short break before coming back and deciding we were going to book the mummy over at their faversham location for after dinner, and it was nice as we got brochures with a 10% discount on booking this. we then played sub-zero, which was my third favourite game from the day. malak hosted us, and she was such a ray of sunshine. sub-zero is another container game and we had to walk a short way, but malak was chatting the whole time and was ever so friendly. i found the puzzles in this to be really good, and ones that my team gelled with. we escaped this one the quickest as we were in the zone by this point. i really liked the theme, and found this to be a pretty solid room.
after we had dinner, we shot over to faversham to play the mummy, and let me tell you, i am so pleased we spontaneously booked this. my absolute favouritest game of the whole day. we were hosted by hannah m, who just gave such good vibes from the second we saw her. they were playing music in there whilst hannah was resetting the room from the previous game, and i had a singalong to bring me to life by evanescence, so i had to ask hannah what absolute legend made the playlist, and she said it was tommy who hosted us in the morning, so i wanted to say thank you for your fab music taste (but my friends may not thank you, as they hated my singing voice). we had previously heard from malak that she tested the room also as a group of three, and they got out in 90 minutes (it being over 60 because they were testing), and despite the fact that they had taken a few puzzles out since then, coupled up with the previous group saying it was tough, our 2 year escaping was not looking good. we got in the room and were blown away with the set design again. it was such a fresh take on an egyptian themed room, and the puzzles were so unique, which is a rare thing for enthusiasts to find. we were so focused and we absolutely smashed it. as enthusiasts, we often take escape rooms somewhat slowly to have a bit of a joke around but also to give us time to really take in the set design, but because we were worried about our escape rate, we just divided and conquered the room. i worked on a puzzle whilst my friends did another, and we used brilliant teamwork as we knew our strengths and therefore got the right people working on the right puzzles.
overall, our day at escape kent (canterbury and faversham) was brilliant. i'm certainly pleased we finished on the mummy and not sub-zero, as from hannah's amazing games mastering and just the absolute beauty of the room, it was such a perfect end to our day. all of the staff we encountered were absolutely wonderful which made our experience a million times better. thank you to everyone at escape kent for making us feel so welcome!
