尼克松总统图书馆暨博物馆 的点评
点评：We were visiting Palm Springs, and since it was going to be a rainy day, we decided to do an indoor activity. Yorba Linda is relatively nearby, and we are big fans of presidential libraries, so it was definitely on my visit list. The library itself is located on the land that President Nixon's father owned at the time of his birth (it was a lemon orchard!) Yorba Linda offered it to President Nixon, along with his childhood home, which was still on the property.
That's the big difference with this library compared to other others, the fact that you you could actually see and tour through Nixon's childhood home.
The home is furnished with nearly 80% of the original items, as Nicon's brother held onto everything early in Nixon's political career thinking that one day they may be important.
Everything in the library is very well done. They do not gloss over or try to hide his resignation from office, in fact, the short video that you can watch opened with Nixon giving his resignation speech. But what this library does do, is show that Nixon was much more than his resignation. It really highlights what a great politician, statesman, and foreign ambassador he was, as well as all the work that he did before and after his presidency with world leaders.
They also gave a beautiful insight to Nixon's relationship with his wife, Pat. To be honest, the area of the museum that spoke about their funerals definitely brought tears to my eyes.
There is a beautiful rendition of the rose garden at the library, at the end of which are the gravesites for Nixon and his wife Pat. There's a replica of his oval office, and you can also go out and see Marine One. This library was exceptionally well done, and I felt I knew a great deal more about his life and his contributions to the world when we were done. I would highly recommend a visit!
