点评:This is one of Portland’s most visited and photographed Falls. Who has not seen pictures of it everywhere? In our opinion, it was also one of the most scenic areas to visit.
The water in the cascade is fed by underground springs from Larch Mountain. Therefore, the flow varies from one season to another – with the maximum amount of water appearing during winter and spring.
The Falls tumble down the cliff for 611 feet in two steps – Upper Falls are 542 feet, and lower falls are 69 feet. There is a plaque showing this halfway up.
The Benson Footbridge spanning the Multnomah Creek is almost as famous as the Falls. It is what the falls unique. The walk up to it was easy. It did have a short steep incline in places, so it will not be good for everyone. Once we were on the bridge, we could see the upper and lower falls, and this made our trek worthwhile.
It is more crowded than the other falls, but a “Must See” if you are in the Portland area.
