Avoid Ganesa!

点评：If I could leave 0 stars I would. Similar to the reviews below, I booked through a hostel and was unfortunately paired with Ganesa Explorer for the 4D/3N Santa Cruz Trek.
Our guide, Luis, did not speak any english which we were told he did. He did not bother to ask any of our names. From the very beginning he ignored many of our questions or would constantly change his answers. He often hiked many kilometers in front of the last hikers. During the second day he left everyone alone to climb the pass and one of our members was dealing with altitude sickness and he was nowhere to be found.
The gear was extremely old. The tents had broken zippers and did not stay dry. So during the night we would get wet sleeping bags and clothes which was unsafe at the altitudes we were sleeping at. The sleeping bags were not warm and all the gear smelled poorly.
On the 3rd morning we were proposed with ending the trek early. We were told that it would only be a 7 hour day and mostly downhill so the group opted for this decision since everyone was freezing in the gear provided. But our guide didn’t tell us the proper distance. In total it was over 30km of hiking and he completely left the group behind.
Then on our “private” van ride back we picked up several people from the street who we did not know. It seemed that we had become a public van.
I would recommend checking with your hostel to see who they put you on the Santa Cruz trek with and avoid going with Ganesa.
