点评:Our hike/walk on the Fern Canyon Trail in Van Damme SP was terrific. The trail name is indeed appropriate - very single step took us past large and small growths of different ferns. That was great, yes, but the redwoods were just as impressive. While these are not the true "giant" redwoods, they were still photo-worthy. This is more of a walk than a hike as there's only a bit over 100 feet of elevation gain. Nonetheless, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed it immensely. There were very few others on the trail which made the forest seem silent, while at the same time, in an eerie way, the silence seemed to be calling to us. Just serene in every way. It was "Zen" in many ways and simultaneously "noisy and tragic" when observing piles giant redwoods that have fallen. The cycle of nature is everywhere in the canyon. We live in the mountains and love mountain hiking, but this gentle trail is a "must-do" when in Northern California !!!
