Visual Reminder This is an Active Park
Steam Vents的点评
点评：Positioned along the top of the Kilauea crater rim is a long crack in the rocky ground that is actively spewing steam from the heat of the volcano. In addition to the steam vents the area also provided a wonderful view overlook of the Kilauea crater about a mile from the Volcano House. In fact, the steam vents were the closest parking space we could get to the Volcano House, but it was well worth the hike through the Steam Vents and Sulphur Banks.
While I imagine it is amazing to be in the park when the Volcano is erupting, the Steam Vents are a great reminder that this is an active park that is in motion and evolution every day. It is wild to walk by the vents and see the heat escape from below. For me this is something you should make the effort to see during you park visit. You can easily see both the overlook and steam vents from the path and venturing not much farther gets you to the Sulphur Banks as well, all great volcanic features to see and experience in the park.
