Fort Necessity National Battlefield的点评
点评：We live in Illinois so Abraham Lincoln was always my favorite president. But after reading Hamilton and Washington by Ron Chernow, I became fascinated with George Washington. I planned a trip to Philadelphia to see all the history that city held and I was hoping I could talk my husband into going to Ft. Necessity on the way home and he was more than happy to do it.
It was a quiet day with only a few other visitors. We enjoyed the movie and the exhibits. They have a wonderful playground to entertain the young ones. I've never seen a historical park have anything like that before.
It's a short walk from the visitor's center to the reconstructed fort. My husband uses a cane and was able to walk to it.
It's so thrilling for me to see the places I've only read about in a book. It made it all come alive for me.
Well worth the time. Plus, General Braddock's grave is only a little ways away. Beautiful drive here on the National Road (Hwy 40).
