点评:This is one of the Must See Freedom Trail sites when you come to Boston. Now I have seen some reviews that question the worthiness of what they usually say is such a small home (4 rooms) and museum. What I say to anyone looking to visit Boston, it is not the size of the site but the value of it to our American culture. That is why you visit and that is why you must see it.
In the intangible Pantheon of American Revolutionary Culture, Paul Revere may not be a Washington or a Franklin, but he is way up there. Obviously, there is the fateful ride to Lexington on the eve of the Revolution that most people know. However, what most people have no concept is that Revere was a celebrate patriot before that ride. He was an important member of the Sons of Liberty and in his own age, was much more famous for his silversmith and lithography, especially the scene that all of us know of the Boston Tea Party. It was through Revere's art that most colonials learned of the massacre and the real tear that would lead to a break with Great Britain.
For all those reasons, he is an incredibly important figure for all Americans. The home is of great value not only because he lived here. The value is it is one of the few examples we have of colonial town living from the Eighteenth Century. The home was decades old by the time Revere moved in. In fact when you visit the downstairs is designed to show you what the home would have looked like for any colonial in that time period. Upstairs, you get to see two bedrooms design as they were when the Reveres lived in the home. Behind the home, there is a nice courtyard for you to gather and behind that is a small museum with a restroom, which can be very valuable when you are walking the trail.
Anyways, yes, it is small. However, it is the importance that is a large as anything in the North End. It is something you have to visit and it is a great backdrop for pictures.
