点评：With MANCHE ÎLES Express we had booked the ferry from Jersey to Guernsey at 6.40 pm. When we arrived at the ferry terminal there was no-one at the desk!!! An information sign explained us that the crossing was cancelled due to bad weather conditions. But just at 2pm it was sunny with only light wind.
As there was no more crossing in the evening that day from Jersey to Guernsey, we had been left standing on the street in the night and with our luggage. We were therefore reliant on finding overnight accommodation at short notice and on a Saturday night. We had to pay taxi charges from ferry terminal to the hotel and back next day. And also the cost of the hotel in Guernsey, which we had already booked and where we were unable to go due to the cancellation.
Only the ferry ticket was refunded by Manche îles. Our remaining costs were all excluded from reimbursement.
A serious company has the obligation to inform their clients in time about cancellations. The message that Manche Îles had send we hadn’t got, because the internet connection on the islands doesn’t always work.
Our recommendation:
Manche Îles use small boats which can’t leave in slightly worse weather.
CONDOR ferry has larger ships that guarantee a crossing even in windy weather. CONDOR also pays a flat rate for hotel accommodation, should this be necessary.
