点评:The William Henry Harrison Memorial was interesting to see and learn from but it did not appear well cared for on our winter visit. We could only peer through a locked glass door to see inside but I imagine there are not a large number of visitors to this very small town memorial. You park in a small lot near some signs telling you some history on Harrison and his family. Then you walk slightly down hill to the actual memorial. There are a number of stone steps you can climb (not a hard climb really) or a ramp to the side that also leads you to the obelisk memorial. The view from the memorial overlooks the winding river below. It is actually a lovely memorial and pretty grand in itself. A sunny day and a clean up would make it even grander. There are two large magnolia trees lining the steps. It was not far from the interstate as we traveled the area so I still say it was worth our time to stop and see it. It never hurts to learn something new! Nearby (couple miles) is a historical marker sign in a neighborhood designating the birthplace of his grandson Benjamin Harrison who became the 23rd president. The house is not there … just a historical marker near the corner of Washington and Symmes Streets (WHH’s wife’s maiden name) … see?. I did learn something new! 😁
