点评:Stayed in Anchorage 5 days prior to meeting friends for a cruise, to run a trail race and check out the town. I had no idea how much wild nature I would encounter in and around a city, though I did some research prior to the trip. I read about the large moose population and extensive trails at Kincaid Park, just south of the city, and mapped a 10 mile run on the Coastal Trail from the park to where I was staying in Anchorage. Took an uber to the park, walked around a bit, lots of people out for a beautiful day in early May. Spring had already made the trees and foliage come to life, and it was spectacular. Started my run, and on mile #2 a cyclist coming towards me yelled something (I was thinking did he say “bear”, nah couldn’t). So I kept going! A few minutes later 2 cyclists who passed me earlier were stopped.. so I stopped as we waited for two black bears to move on from whatever it was they felt like doing. It was fascinating, yet terrifying, at the same time. I did snap a photo of one of them, and man, once I started moving again, I ran VERY fast until I was out of the forest and on the more human populated part of the trail. On the way, also saw a moose, and lots of beautiful scenery. Great experience.
