My wife and I recently went on a 9-day trip with Los Amigos and it was spectacular. Our guide was Adolfo, our donkey driver was Abner and our cook was Crispin. Adolfo and Abner are owners of the company. Going with Los Amigos means you are directly supporting a local family, not some person sitting behind a computer screen working for a larger company. Adolfo kept us safe and healthy on what is a challenging and supremely rewarding trek. You will walk and camp at some very high altitudes and Adolfo’s experience in the mountains is invaluable. He seemed to know everyone we came across along the trail. Abner took care of all of the camp details and Crispin kept us well-fed while making everyone laugh at every meal. The meals he produces from a camp kitchen are outstanding. While you are at it, book a stay with Anamin who is also part of the Valdez-Rivera family. It will make your stay in Huaraz so much more enjoyable. She was a delight to work with from the very start as she helped us to plan our trek. She operates her home like a B&B and you’ll feel comfortable from the start. You’ll have your own space and Anamin will cook you an amazing breakfast each morning. She also helps to organize the logistics of your acclimation hikes in the Huaraz area. Do yourself a favor- book with Los Amigos de Huayhuash. You won’t regret it!
