Rent a wreck with Tournride

点评：Spain is a beautiful country, Santiago a wonderful city and the people of Spain are great people! Tournride not so much. They are renting old bicycles that are falling apart. We rode the bikes from Caldas to Santiago, a mere 60km with panniers. Day one I had to redo the limits on the derailleur and redo cable tension as the chain would suck into the spokes at shifting. On the other bike the rear brake lever did not work. Day two we thought we knew the shortcomings and we were surprised when the cassette on one of the bikes started to rattle and the paddles on the second bike started squeaking as if they were gonna fall off. On day three we arrived in Santiago and I brought back the bikes, bringing the issues up with one of the employees, who was just doing her job and likely parroting her boss with these answers:
1: "Something could have happened during transport to your hotel 2: Something could have happened while the bikes were waiting for you in the hotel parking lot 3: You should have apped us so that we could have repaired the bikes 4: The bikes are checked by 4 mechanics before they are sent out"
Really??
We basically spent nearly $400 for three days on crappy bicycles that are each not worth more than $50
Instead of taking care of their customers, they basically blame them for not pointing out the shortcomings of those bikes while you're on your trip. I jerry rigged them as best I could (I rode across the US and Europe and know a thing or two about fixing on the go). Anyways, if these guys would have refunded me even $150 I would have been fine, but they continue to suffer cognitive dissonance (how can I make plenty Euros while renting terrible bikes)
