A Wild, Beautiful Day at Cayo Acuario—Sequins, Snorkels, and a Hidden Sandbar

点评：This was one of the best experiences we had near San Andrés. My girlfriend and I rented a pontoon boat with a local captain and his wife—he’s from the island, she’s European, and together they’re just the sweetest duo. Super chill, super welcoming.
They took us into the mangroves first, where we got to see some cool hidden graffiti art tucked in the trees. Then we floated over to a little bar-in-the-water spot surrounded by boats—kind of a floating party scene. We were on our own boat, music going on Bluetooth, just vibing. Meanwhile, around us: massive boats packed with people going hard. Sequined bathing suits, TikTok dances, big energy. It was hilarious and kind of amazing to watch.
We did stop for lunch at the island restaurant, but honestly, I’d skip that next time. Bring your own food and just grab cold drinks from the local vendors. Way better.
Our captain also took us to this off-the-map sandbar where no one else was. That was the real highlight—clear water, soft sand, total peace. We also snorkeled near a shipwreck, and I swear I saw Dory.
If you’re looking for a mix of peace, party, and a bit of the unexpected, this is it. A little chaotic, a little magical. Totally worth it.
