The Eternal Light Peace Memorial的点评
点评：The story is that the eternal flame that sits near President John F. Kennedy's gravestone in Arlington Cemetery was inspired by the visit that he and the First Lady took to Gettysburg, where the President insisted that he drive the licensed guide, Jacob Sheads, and explored with the same zest for life he always had. Invited back for dedication day, the president declined due to a commitment he had a commitment in Dallas, Texas.
That aside, it is a powerful memorial, one that reminds us of the sacrifice of war -- and the intent of that sacrifice - peace and unity. Let it be a reminder not just of who perished in Gettysburg, but there are great consequences to division...especially in these times.
There are trails and vistas that give you extensive views of Gettysburg battle ground and other angles of the town itself. If you aren't a war buff make sure you bring the map with you to better understand what you are looking at at the flame.
If there's any stop that is a must do, this is the one for me.
