点评：Out-of-state tourists like us had only heard about Mount Battie, never knowing it was located within a state park. We had to pay a day-use fee of $6 per person, per day, for anyone aged 12 to 64 years. There was no per-vehicle fee and no discounts for out-of-state veterans. If I had been 65, as a non-resident, I would have only been charged $2, and if our child was 5 to 11, the fee would have been just $1. Our family of three paid $18 by credit card for less than 30 minutes. In contrast, Maine residents pay only $4 (ages 12-64), and residents 65 and older are FREE.
Likewise, residents of Maine, or well-timed tourists, can also take advantage of leaf peeping in the fall. There are at least 20 trails, with notable ones being the Megunticook (1 mi, moderate), Maiden Cliff ( 1 mi, moderate), and Mount Battie (0.5 mi, moderate to strenuous) trails. RVs and campers can take advantage of the late May to mid-October camping season. The campground offers restrooms, showers, a nature center, playground, firewood, Wi-Fi at select campsites, full hookups, and a dumping station.
