点评:While staying in Portland, we decided to take a drive, and we found this island quite by accident. There is a paved bridge that goes onto the island where parking is available. (Parking is quite limited, and we had to wait for a space though not very long. We left the island but turned around and went back, and the attendant was kind enough to let us pull over to wait). The fee for us seniors was only $1 each. The walking trail circles the island, and while longer than I thought it would be, it was very doable. It is shaded and cool in most areas, and runs along the water. We had learned about the pet cemetery on an earlier tour in Portland, and found that off the trail. There are benches to sit on every so often. There is a deaf school on the island as well which can be seen from the trail. There is a very clean port-a-potty to use if needed. The views from the trail are beautiful, and it turned out to be a most pleasant afternoon.
