Shields Date Garden的点评
点评：Driving up to the building, it looks as if it is 1960 again...
One enters through a large gift shop with a good selection of candy, syrups, jam/jellies, souvenirs, jewelry, etc. Watch the short film as it gives you a nice introduction and history of Shield's. There is an old time counter where you can get the famous date shake.
The Cafe is outside and in a small air-conditioned building (that does not have much atmosphere...but great when it's really hot). We sat outside. There are umbrellas and a couple fans out there. It was quite warm but nevertheless, many folks sat outside as well. They serve breakfast and lunch only. They close at 2 pm unless there is a private function. Nice size menu. All of the staff were professional and very helpful.
We tried the stuffed dates as a small appetizer and shared a cheeseburger with fruit. All of the food was delicious. The stuffed dates were out of this world good. YUMMY!
After, we did the walk through their Garden. It takes a half hour or so depending on if you read the plaques/signs at each stop. Very enjoyable.
Shield's was the best attraction on our recent trip to Indio & Palm Springs. We plan to go back this fall when the temps are cooler.
