A brilliant, intimate and genuinely eco-conscious whale watching experience
Atlantic Eco Experience | Whale Watching Tenerife的点评
点评：We had such a fantastic experience with Atlantic Eco Experience and would recommend them without hesitation.
We booked the 2.5-hour whale and dolphin watching tour as a couple with our 8-month-old baby girl, and one of the things we loved most was how small and personal the group was — just seven adults and our baby, rather than one of the huge catamarans packed with people that you see operating in the area.
Our crew were Mirna, the captain, who mainly spoke Spanish but also some English, and David, an incredibly knowledgeable interpreter who spoke fluent English. Both were clearly so passionate about the ocean, the wildlife and conservation, and that really came across throughout the whole experience.
Before we even set off, they took the time to explain the animals we were likely to encounter — particularly the pilot whales — using models and props to help explain their anatomy, behaviour and some really interesting facts. We learnt so much.
Their attention to detail was particularly impressive. They have their own library identifying the individual whales found around the island and were able to recognise the animals we encountered. It gave you the sense that they genuinely know and care about these animals as individuals, rather than simply taking tourists out to find “some whales”.
During the trip we were lucky enough to see lots of pilot whales as well as dolphins, which was amazing. Just as importantly, the team were incredibly respectful of the animals. Whenever more boats started arriving around a group of whales, we would move on rather than add to the crowd and disturb them. That approach made the whole experience feel much more responsible.
Their environmental ethos extends beyond the wildlife too — whenever we came across plastic or rubbish floating in the ocean, they stopped to collect it.
The boat itself was really comfortable and extremely well looked after, with a small toilet onboard, and drinks were offered during the trip. We also felt very comfortable bringing our 8-month-old with us.
In such a busy and touristy area, it was genuinely lovely to find a small company putting education, conservation and respect for the animals at the heart of what they do.
We’re so happy we chose Atlantic Eco Experience rather than one of the larger tours. A really memorable experience and easily five stars from us.
