Nice walk around & immaculate gardens
迈阿密动物园的点评
点评：Needed to “waste” time before a late flight and opted for a trip to the zoo.
It was a big zoo with good well laid out paths. The planting was lovely & we appreciated the labelling of trees etc. it was immaculately kept.
Whilst majority of the animal enclosures seemed ok it was noticeable that some herd animals e.g. grevys zebra & sable were kept as a solo animals which was sad to see.
Also a couple of the carnivores seemed bored/distressed and were pacing along their fence lines (black bear & jaguar), personally I found this distressing and felt these creatures did not deserve to be be confined in a zoo.
The painted dogs, which need to run, had a very confined space. I was saddened to see a cheetah in a very small enclosure.
Overall there seemed to be more effort/attention focused on children’s interaction (which looked great with water pads, rope bridges etc) than on some of the animal environments.
I’m glad I was an overseas visitor and that this was not my local zoo, in my opinion European zoos I have visited are better in terms of animal environments.
