点评：What a great place to experience a wide variety of food! There are no national chain places here. From what I could tell, every eatery is local. At first glance you might think it’s a tourist trap and the food might be subpar. Not true; we saw residents from neighboring buildings picking up lunch or dinner and others dining in. Prices are what you would expect for a center city eating establishment. One evening my travel companion ordered a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. It looked delicious but it was extremely greasy. She said it was awesome! There’s a fresh produce shop and several meat and poultry markets where it looks like the meat is brought in fresh daily. There are candy and chocolate shops in addition to the places to order chicken dinners, Mac n cheese, or ethnic food. Fortunately we stayed two blocks from the terminal and could walk there every day. Dining at our hotel was expensive; ($5 coffee, $10 oatmeal, $26 burgers). We had breakfast at The Terminal every day and dinner several times. The only drawback for dinner dining is the Terminal’s closing time of 6pm. It’s congested at times but it doesn’t take long to get an order of food. To get a good insight into the place, you can take a tour; it’s an interesting story. There is an office where you can sign up for tours and buy Reading Terminal T-shirts, mugs, and other souvenirs. If I returned to Philly for a visit and was staying at a hotel nearby, I would choose this as my main eating place again. By the way, the cast bronze pig in the center of the market is Philbert who is quite large and serves as a great reminder to put a dollar or two in the box he is standing on. The money goes to provide food for the underserved of the city.
