点评:This lighthouse is a twitchers paradise as it is now a sea bird sanctuary with the opportunity to see boobies, Frigate birds and rare Albatross nesting and flying around the cliffs. There is $10 per person entry fee, but it with the money to keep this location looked after. There is a paved walk up to the disused lighthouse with stunning views over the cliffs. We saw a turtle swimming in the bay below.
Whilst there we saw the boobies and frigate birds and a baby albatross nesting. The park staff are knowledgeable and friendly and use binoculars and telescopes to observe these sea birds. There is a shop and restroom area for your use.
Big Al’s top tips. If you have time the drive to the north of the island to visit this historic lighthouse and sea bird sanctuary will be worth the visit. The views are stunning so bring a camera and binoculars. Plenty of information boards around to help identify the birds some if which are very rare like the albatross!
