A dream safari at Yala!

点评：After doing Colombo, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya we drove down to Tissamaharama for Yala safari. My brother in law (My wildlife photography mentor) had advised me to go through Menaka safaris hence I had booked them 02 months in advance. It was for the first time we did a full day safari. The prices were reasonable the the vehicle was top class.. The amazing driver picked us up from the resort at dot 4.30 am. Apart from quality Sri Lankan Breakfast and lunch we moved along the length and breadth of the Park scouting for wild animals along with birds. But alas! No movement or alarm calls for the elusive leopards / sloth bears. But we saw a lot of elephants, wild buffaloes, deers, crocodiles, birds etc. Paradise fly catcher and India horn bill were the biggest catches. The driver collected intelligence from other drivers but no luck till 5.00 pm. Suddenly ahead we saw a lot vehicles lined up and as we neared them, I saw the leopard resting inside a small cave like structure. He advised us that the its time for the leopard to come down so be ready with my camera stuff. For around 30 minutes the leopard gave us a show. Thanking God for such a sighting we headed back. But in 5 minutes we saw again a lot of vehicles lined up. It was almost 5.40 pm and dark. Another driver said a mom and two cubs are behind the bushes. And to our luck two of them came out and posed for us for a minute. What a sighting for the day. Thanks to Menaka Safaris it was possible. Returned tired and dehydrated to the Resort but our hearts were filled with joy.
