点评:Cemeteries are a unique draw in Savannah given its reputation as a haunted city. With its convenient location in the city’s Historic District, Colonial Park Cemetery is a popular stop for many Savannah visitors. My wife and I strolled through the cemetery on a warm, humid day in May 2025.
The cemetery is located at the intersection of Oglethorpe Avenue and Abercorn Street. The most famous gravesite at the cemetery is that of Button Gwinnett, one of the original signers of the Declaration of Independence. Burials in the cemetery ceased in the mid-19th century, and it is now a city park with no admission fee.
Colonial Park Cemetery does not have the tall, moss-laden trees and impressive monuments and ornate grave markers of Bonaventure Cemetery, but it is relatively small and easy to traverse, so it provided us with a short and comfortable diversion.
