点评：We recently took an in-depth tour of Mount Vernon with our guide, Conner, and it was an incredible experience. It was clear how passionate and knowledgeable he was about the life of George Washington and the rich history of Mount Vernon. Conner didn’t just focus on the highlights. He gave a well-rounded perspective of Washington’s life, sharing both the positive contributions and the more difficult and complex aspects, including his relationship with slave labor.
I was initially nervous about going because I had heard mixed reviews due to the house being under construction. However, our family felt that the mansion was actually just a small part of the entire experience. The grounds were expansive and full of history, from the wharf and the working farm to the surrounding woods, outbuildings, and the enslaved workers’ quarters. There was so much to learn and see.
Our whole family loved the trip and would absolutely recommend it to others.
