点评：Parking at Ruby Falls can be a bit of a pain, depending on what time of year you go. While there is some overflow parking, it’s a bit of a hike, so I’d recommend dropping off elderly visitors or anyone with mobility issues at the front before going to park. Parking is free. The website says that you can’t purchase tickets in person, but we noticed two kiosks in the lobby and cashiers selling tickets so there seems to be a discrepancy there.
The main attraction, the waterfalls, is incredible. Seeing an underground waterfall is truly unique and worth the visit. The round-trip walk to the falls is about a mile, though the walk back is less exciting. The trail is narrow and tight with limited views of formations compared to other caverns like DeSoto or Cathedral Caverns. If you can overlook that, the waterfall itself makes the hike worthwhile.
Tours are run every 15 minutes to manage traffic, so there’s quite a bit of standing around. Fortunately, guides share stories and history while you wait, which keeps things interesting. You spend only about 5–10 minutes at the waterfall itself before heading back. Tour groups vary in size, but they do try to entertain visitors and offer a photo opportunity at the end, which costs $35. It’s a superimposed photo of your family with the falls in the background.
At the start of the tour, there’s a video introduction that tells the story of Ruby falls. Some areas of the cave can be slippery, though handrails are provided. There are low areas where taller visitors may need to duck, about 10% of the time for me at 5’8”. If you’re taller than 5’10”, be prepared to duck quite a bit.
