点评:The Cliff Walk is a must-do site, but for the water views, not the mansion views. It had been a few decades since we were last in Newport, and back then, you could see more of the Gilded Age mansions from the Walk. Today, many of them are obscured by the trees and shrubs and fencing. But don't let that stop you from walking the Cliff Walk. On two consecutive days we were on the Cliff Walk. Marble House to Ochre Point one day. Memorial Blvd down to Narangsett Ave the next day. We didn't attempt the lower 1/3 of the Walk as it is marked as Difficult. On both days, we thoroughly enjoyed watching the "breakers" (waves) crash on the boulders along the shoreline. And the surfers! The Cliff Walk is free, just be sure to have a map so that you know where it is possible to park and where to enter/exit the Cliff Walk. Beware that there are areas where the flat dirt or concrete sidewalks end and you have to climb on large boulders (with mostly flat tops) to move on and that it's not as easy as it looks.
