点评:We started our visit at the Colonial National Historical Park in Jamestown, VA. We drove , the stretch of road between the Jamestowne Settlement and the Historic Jamestown Visitor Center. We did visit the GlassHouse while there. It was really neat. You could watch glass blowing and purchase their works of art. They did have some ruins of the old glasshouse behind a little wall with some educational signs, but there was not much to see there. The workers at the new Glasshouse were very friendly and informative. The day we visited, they were making apothecary jars.
I do not feel that this should be a fee area though as it contains a gift shop for the park. It would be nice if you could visit this area without paying the National Park Fee, especially if your sole purpose is to purchase glass art from the glasshouse. There is a small beachy area beside the glasshouse. Here you could see some of the tall ships docked at the Jamestown Settlement. You could also see the ferry from the beach.
After we visited the glasshouse we took the Colonial National Parkway towards Yorktown. We did get to enjoy the views of part of the parkway, but parts of it were closed for construction: Colonial Parkway to all travel in either direction between Yorktown and VA Route 199 was closed. We followed the detour to Yorktown.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit with the glasshouse. We also enjoyed the portions of the Colonial National Parkway we got to travel.
